The 2011 Grand Prix of Canada was held on June 12 2011. It was the 7th event of the season. The Grand Prix was held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve circuit and was 70 laps long. The race was won by Jenson Button. It was the 1st win of the season for Button. He would eventually get 3 wins in 2011. The Brit, who drives for McLaren-Mercedes, had a lead of 2.7 secs to Sebastian Vettel who came in second and finished 13.8 secs in front of Mark Webber who was third. Of the 24 drivers who competed in the race, 6 retired. After the race Sebastian Vettel was leading the driver championship with 161 points. Because of his win Jenson Button went from P4 to P2.
It was the 42nd time that the Grand Prix of Canada was held and the 32nd time at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve circuit.
