The 2011 Grand Prix of Italy was held on September 11 2011. It was the 13th event of the season. The Grand Prix was held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit and was 53 laps long. The race was won by Sebastian Vettel. It was the 8th win of the season for Vettel. He would eventually get 11 wins in 2011 and become champion. The German, who drove for Red Bull-Renault, finished the race in 1:20:46.172. He had a lead of 9.5 secs to Jenson Button who came in second and finished 16.9 secs in front of Fernando Alonso who was third. Of the 24 drivers who competed in the race, 8 retired. Sebastian Vettel remained 1st and extended his lead with 20 points to 112 points.
It was the 62nd time that the Grand Prix of Italy was held and the 61st time at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit.
